“I joined Barcelona when I was 20. It was always my dream club, and I would never speak ill of it—no matter the circumstances,” said Ousmane Dembélé after playing a pivotal role in PSG’s Champions League triumph.
Dembélé parted ways with Barcelona in the summer of 2023 after six years with the club. His closest shot at Champions League glory with Barça came in 2019, when the team reached the semifinals alongside Lionel Messi.
Since joining Paris Saint-Germain, Dembélé has evolved into a more complete and consistent player. Once plagued by injuries, he now appears to have put those struggles behind him, ending the season with an impressive 48 goal contributions across all competitions.
Following PSG’s treble-winning campaign, Dembélé has emerged as a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or. His performances have drawn praise across the football world.
Former Dutch international Wesley Sneijder weighed in on the Ballon d’Or race, stating, “If PSG wins the Champions League, Dembélé will take the Ballon d’Or. Otherwise, it will go to Lamine [Yamal].”
