Liverpool have proposed including their €75 million-rated star in a swap deal to land Florian Wirtz.

Darwin Núñez’s Liverpool Future Uncertain Amid Possible Wirtz Swap Deal

Darwin Núñez’s position at Liverpool is increasingly unclear, with strong interest in the striker coming from European clubs and teams in the Saudi Pro League as the summer transfer window approaches.

According to David Ornstein, Núñez is among several Liverpool players who may be on the move, particularly as the club considers funding a big-money transfer for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.

Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Liverpool have made an official opening bid for the 22-year-old German international, said to exceed €100 million.

Could a Swap Be in the Works?

Empire of the Kop reports that Núñez is open to a new challenge, and his agents are already sounding out possible destinations.

Liverpool are reportedly weighing the idea of a player-plus-cash swap deal involving Núñez and Wirtz. This arrangement could help lower the high asking price for Wirtz, who is currently valued between €130m and €150m.

If the proposed swap doesn’t materialize, Núñez is unlikely to be without options. Clubs such as Atlético Madrid, Napoli, and Saudi sides including Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Ahli are all tracking the Uruguayan’s situation.

After scoring only seven goals in 47 matches last season, questions are being asked about his long-term future under incoming manager Arne Slot. Sporting director Richard Hughes may see this summer as a timely opportunity to sell the 25-year-old forward, who turns 26 soon.

Though Liverpool’s main approach is thought to be a direct cash offer for Wirtz, including Núñez in the deal may become a more realistic option if there’s a significant gap in valuation.

Ultimately, much will depend on whether Núñez is open to a move to Leverkusen—and whether the German club sees him as part of their plans. Either way, this transfer story is likely to gather momentum in the coming weeks.
