Top-Class Defender Arrives in UK to Finalize Liverpool Transfer

Frimpong Deal Nears Completion as Liverpool Signal Ambition in Early Transfer Moves

Liverpool supporters are buzzing as Jeremie Frimpong’s long-awaited move to Anfield appears to be nearing its final steps. The Bayer Leverkusen right-back has been linked with the Reds for weeks, and the latest developments strongly suggest an official announcement is imminent.

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano issued his trademark “here we go” nine days ago — widely regarded as a definitive sign that the deal is done in all but name. Since then, reports have confirmed Frimpong has successfully completed his medical checks. On Tuesday, Sky Sports revealed that the 24-year-old had arrived in the UK, landing on Merseyside to finalize the last formalities of his transfer.

According to Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail, Liverpool plan to unveil Frimpong as early as Sunday — coinciding with the official opening of the summer transfer window. The Dutch international is expected to cost around £30 million, marking a confident early move by new sporting director Richard Hughes, who appears intent on executing Liverpool’s transfer plans with precision and speed.

Frimpong is one of several names reportedly on Liverpool’s radar. The club is also said to be close to deals for Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz and Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. Wrapping up these signings early would provide incoming head coach Arne Slot with a strengthened squad well before the start of pre-season preparations.

The timing of Frimpong’s arrival is particularly significant amid speculation about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future. Should the England international depart, Frimpong’s signing — coupled with the rise of promising youngster Conor Bradley — would give Slot a solid foundation at right-back.

Unlike past seasons, where Liverpool’s key transfers have often come later in the window, this move represents a strategic shift. Frimpong would benefit from a full pre-season with his new teammates, allowing him time to integrate into the squad and adapt to Slot’s system ahead of competitive action.

If the deal is announced on Sunday as expected, it would not only excite the fanbase but also send a powerful signal to rivals: Liverpool’s title-winning season was just the beginning. The club is moving swiftly and decisively to ensure they remain at the top of English and European football.
