Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a new signing for Liverpool, providing an update on Saturday afternoon that should excite fans eager for transfer news.
While supporters continue to await developments in Liverpool’s pursuits of Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, Romano urged fans to remain patient, noting that sporting director Richard Hughes is actively working on both deals.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Romano revealed that Armin Pecsi, a promising young Hungarian goalkeeper born in 2005, has officially signed with Liverpool. He wrote:

Liverpool’s Goalkeeper Reshuffle Continues
The signing of Pecsi adds to Liverpool’s broader revamp of their goalkeeping department this summer. The club is also set to confirm the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia on July 1, with the Georgian expected to serve as Alisson Becker’s primary backup, following Caoimhin Kelleher’s £18 million move to Brentford.
Additionally, Harvey Davies and Vitezslav Jaros have recently extended their contracts, though one may head out on loan to gain further first-team experience.
Pecsi Considered a Top Talent
Hungarian football journalist Bence Bocsak has praised Pecsi as “one of the best young goalkeeping prospects in Europe.” The 20-year-old was a key figure for Puskás Akadémia, playing nearly every game as they finished second in Hungary’s top division for the 2024/25 season and secured a place in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers.
While Pecsi is unlikely to feature in Liverpool’s first team immediately, the club clearly sees him as a long-term talent capable of challenging for a starting role in the future.
According to Tribuna, Armin Pecsi is a young goalkeeper who “combines physical presence with technical intelligence”. He has been praised by coaches for his maturity, decision-making, and ability to play out from the back. Although he has gained regular first-team experience in Hungary, a league not always considered among Europe’s top competitions, this experience should still prove valuable as he progresses in his career.
Pecsi is expected to feature predominantly at the underage level for Liverpool during the 2025/26 season, and may then be loaned out to gain further senior experience. This could pave the way for him to eventually serve as Giorgi Mamardashvili’s backup once Alisson departs, or even to challenge for a starting role at Anfield in the future.
While this signing may not be the high-profile addition that fans are hoping for, like Wirtz or Kerkez, Liverpool clearly sees potential in Pecsi. The club wouldn’t invest in him unless they believed he could become a valuable asset in the years to come, with this move possibly turning out to be a masterstroke in hindsight.
