Barcelona rule out signing new right-back this summer – reports

Barcelona Drop Plans to Sign New Right-Back After Eric Garcia Impresses

Barcelona have reportedly decided not to pursue a new right-back this summer, according to SPORT. The club believes the position is sufficiently covered with Jules Kounde as the starter and Eric Garcia as the main backup.

Garcia’s impressive form late in the 2024/25 season, especially in Kounde’s absence, has convinced manager Hansi Flick and the sporting staff that no reinforcement is needed. Under Flick, Garcia has become a trusted and versatile option in the squad.

Academy product Hector Fort is set to stay as the third-choice right-back. Although Barcelona would consider a sale if a strong offer arrives, they won’t seek a replacement, staying true to their lean squad philosophy.

Fort is said to be focused on earning minutes under Flick, aiming to make his official Camp Nou debut next season.

Meanwhile, reports also suggest a last-minute development in the Joan Garcia deal, though further details have yet to emerge.
