Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool? Major Transfer Twist as Chelsea Deal Stalls

Liverpool have received a boost in their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, as Chelsea’s efforts to sign the Frenchman appear to have stalled, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.

Although Chelsea were previously leading the race, negotiations with Frankfurt failed to produce a full agreement, and the Blues have reportedly withdrawn their push to complete a deal before the Club World Cup squad deadline. That deadline is set for 7pm tonight, and no official offer was submitted by Chelsea.

This development has reopened the door for Liverpool, who remain in the mix and could now take advantage of Chelsea’s stalled progress. Ekitike is valued at around €100 million (£84m) by Frankfurt.

While Chelsea could revisit their interest once the transfer window reopens on Monday, June 16, Liverpool may act sooner, especially with new manager Arne Slot reportedly keen on adding attacking depth.

With the transfer window closing temporarily and reopening shortly, this twist presents Liverpool with a fresh opportunity to make a decisive move for the talented forward.
