Liverpool preparing £100 million bid for Premier League player to continue Arne Slot’s major squad rebuild

Arne Slot could be preparing another massive £100m bid to rebuild his squad just days after completing a deal for Florian Wirtz.

After a relatively quiet first year in the transfer market under Arne Slot, Liverpool now seem ready to make a major splash this summer. The Dutch manager is reportedly aiming to overhaul his Premier League-winning squad as he prepares for the upcoming season.

Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong became Slot’s first signing, seen as a potential long-term successor to Trent Alexander-Arnold. Meanwhile, a Premier League record-breaking deal for Florian Wirtz is expected to be confirmed in the coming days, signaling the scale of Liverpool’s ambitions.

However, the rebuild doesn’t stop there. The Reds are reportedly eyeing further high-profile additions, including Bournemouth’s rising star Milos Kerkez and another marquee Premier League player valued at around £100 million.

Liverpool Eye Anthony Gordon as Luis Diaz Uncertainty Grows

Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a renewed move for Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon, according to The Sun, as speculation continues to swirl around Luis Diaz’s future at Anfield.

Diaz has been linked with a potential summer exit, with Barcelona among the clubs showing interest. Earlier reports suggested that PSG’s Bradley Barcola would be Arne Slot’s preferred replacement. However, with PSG now determined to keep the Frenchman following their Champions League triumph, Liverpool are exploring alternative options.

That has led them back to Anthony Gordon—a player long linked with a move to Merseyside. The former Everton academy star has flourished since his £45 million switch to Newcastle in January 2024. Now 24, Gordon has become a central figure in Eddie Howe’s squad, contributing 22 goals and 26 assists in 106 appearances across all competitions.

While Liverpool’s interest is genuine, prising Gordon away from St. James’ Park won’t be easy. Newcastle value him highly, and the winger remains a key part of their long-term plans.

While Anthony Gordon’s price tag is unlikely to pose a problem for Liverpool—especially with at least one of Luis Diaz, Darwin Núñez, Federico Chiesa, or Diogo Jota expected to depart in the coming months—the move could trigger a domino effect in the transfer market.

Should Liverpool succeed in bringing Gordon to Anfield, Newcastle United are reportedly considering a high-profile replacement. Sources suggest the Magpies could pursue a loan deal for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish, who may be available following an inconsistent campaign under Pep Guardiola.
