Name revealed, it will definitely be Real Madrid’s next signing

Real Madrid Targeting Álvaro Carreras as Next Signing After Club World Cup

Real Madrid is preparing to secure its next major addition — and all indications suggest that Álvaro Carreras is the chosen one. According to Madrid-based journalist Ramón de Mon, the Spanish left-back, currently at Benfica, is expected to make the move to the Bernabéu once the Club World Cup concludes.

Carreras has reportedly been on the radar of club president Florentino Pérez for some time, with both the board and head coach Xabi Alonso viewing him as an ideal reinforcement for the defensive line heading into the new season.

Frustration Growing on Carreras’ Side

In recent weeks, Carreras has subtly expressed his frustration through social media posts, including cryptic messages and white heart emojis, believed to reflect both his desire to join Real Madrid and his growing discontent with Benfica. Sources suggest the 21-year-old expected the transfer to be finalized before the Club World Cup began, but delays from the Portuguese side disrupted that timeline.

While early negotiations indicated that Madrid was ready to trigger Carreras’ release clause, Benfica appeared to shift their stance, reluctant to let go of their starting left-back mid-tournament — despite having already secured a replacement in Samuel Dahl.

Benfica’s Tactical Delay

From Real Madrid’s point of view, Benfica intentionally postponed the deal to maintain squad stability during their Club World Cup campaign. Despite Madrid’s willingness to meet financial demands, the Portuguese club reportedly refused to finalize the transfer until after the competition.

Deal Expected to Be Finalized in July

The new plan is to complete the transfer in July, after both clubs conclude their World Cup participation. Madrid already has a personal agreement with Carreras in place, making the remaining steps mostly procedural.

The young full-back is said to be eager for a return to Spain, having previously represented Madrid at the youth level. Now, he looks poised to do it at the senior level — assuming no last-minute complications arise.

Carreras is widely expected to become the next signing under Florentino Pérez, as Los Blancos continue to shape a squad built for long-term success.
