Alexander Isak has already made his feelings clear about playing at Anfield amid reports linking him with a move to Liverpool.
After netting 27 goals in 42 matches across all competitions during the 2024/25 season, Alexander Isak has emerged as one of the most in-demand forwards in global football.
In recent months, top clubs such as Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with the 25-year-old Newcastle United striker.
However, securing a transfer may prove difficult due to Newcastle’s strong reluctance to sell their star forward.
A recent update indicates that Liverpool remain keen on Isak but recognize the complexities involved in any potential deal.
Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail reported: “Newcastle won’t let Isak go on the cheap — any deal would likely require a fee in the region of £130m to £140m. Would Liverpool actually pay that in a summer where they’ve already signed Florian Wirtz? It seems unlikely, but not entirely out of the question.”
Back in 2024, Isak expressed his admiration for Anfield, calling it one of the best stadiums he’s played in — a comment that’s sure to excite Liverpool fans. In an interview with Sky Sports, he said, “Anfield is good, very good.”
Speaking to The Gazette in March, Isak also highlighted how much he enjoys playing against Liverpool: “I really enjoy the games against Liverpool. They’re quite similar to us — a high-pressing, direct team. That creates a lot of counter-attack chances, which suits my style. I’ve had good performances against them and always look forward to those matches.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool fans have begun speculating on social media about a possible transfer twist. Some believe Newcastle could revisit their earlier interest in Hugo Ekitike — who was a target before they signed Isak. With the Frankfurt forward now available, supporters think a big-money move for Isak could be on the cards.
One fan posted: “Selling Isak for over £120m makes a lot of sense for Newcastle. That kind of money could fund major reinforcements across the pitch — maybe bring in Gyökeres or Ekitike and avoid selling someone like Livramento.”
Another added: “Watch Newcastle take £130m+ from us for Isak and go buy Ekitike — their original target — and still turn a profit…”
A third Liverpool supporter chimed in with a prediction: “If Alexander Isak catches fire, don’t be shocked if this unfolds — Isak to Liverpool, Ekitike to Newcastle. Back in January 2022, Newcastle came close to landing Ekitike with a €46 million bid, but he opted to stay in France due to his age. The signs are pointing in a familiar direction.”
So far this summer, Liverpool have been active in the transfer market. They’ve already secured Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and are reportedly nearing a club-record deal for German international Florian Wirtz.
Additionally, Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield, as the club looks to further strengthen its squad.
