Liverpool have been linked with a ‘three-player swap deal’ to sign an Alexander Isak alternative, according to stunning reports.
Liverpool have already made significant moves in this summer’s transfer window, bringing in Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong for £29.5 million and breaking their club transfer record with the £116 million signing of Florian Wirtz.
Arne Slot, who guided the Reds to the Premier League title in his first season, is now looking to further bolster the squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
A new striker is high on Slot’s agenda, and several targets have been mentioned.
Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak is one of the names on Liverpool’s shortlist after a prolific season that saw him score 23 league goals. However, a transfer looks improbable for now, as Newcastle are holding out for a huge asking price.
Liverpool may also look toward Victor Osimhen after his standout loan spell at Galatasaray from Napoli, where he racked up 37 goals across all competitions last season.
Osimhen’s superb form has attracted interest from clubs like Manchester United and Al Hilal, with Liverpool now reportedly monitoring his situation as well.
In a potential twist, the Reds could offer a player-swap deal to secure Osimhen. Italian journalist Valter de Maggio claims that Liverpool might include Federico Chiesa and Darwin Núñez as part of their bid.
“There are ongoing connections between Napoli and Liverpool. The English club are interested in Osimhen, and Napoli won’t drop below the €75 million (£64m/$86m) release clause,” de Maggio stated.
He went on to explain: “Giovanni Manna, Napoli’s sporting director, has inquired about Núñez and Chiesa, who previously played for Juventus. Liverpool would consider a straight player-swap deal for Osimhen. However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has other plans — he wants Chiesa, Núñez, and €20 million (£17m/$23m) for Osimhen.”
Both Chiesa and Núñez have been tipped for exits this summer. Chiesa struggled to make an impact after joining Liverpool from Juventus last season, while Núñez hasn’t fully convinced at Anfield since his £85 million move in 2022.
