Report: Barry Hunter already scouting potential replacement for Slot signing valued at £43 million

Liverpool are reportedly preparing to sell Federico Chiesa during the summer transfer window.

The Italian winger has struggled to live up to expectations since his arrival at Anfield last year. According to Sky Sports, Liverpool hope to recoup around €15 million from his sale.

Chiesa Expected to Leave

A return to Serie A has been mooted, and it remains to be seen if a club in Italy will give him a fresh start. Despite his talent, the 27-year-old has had a tough few seasons, with injuries disrupting his progress and preventing him from hitting top form. Going back to a more familiar environment might help rebuild his confidence and get his career back on track. Importantly, Chiesa will also need regular game time — something he isn’t assured at Liverpool.

Liverpool Target Malick Fofana as Replacement

Meanwhile, Sky Sports also report that Liverpool have already lined up a potential replacement in Lyon winger Malick Fofana. The Reds’ chief scout, Barry Hunter, is a big fan of the 20-year-old Belgian, and the club are weighing up a bid of around £43 million.

Fofana is considered an exciting prospect who could add pace and creativity to Liverpool’s attack — qualities that would help ease the burden on Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz. Strengthening the club’s options in wide areas is a top priority this summer.

With 11 goals and six assists last season, Fofana looks like a smart long-term signing. The opportunity to join the reigning Premier League champions could be highly appealing for him and give him the perfect platform to take the next step in his career.
