Liverpool Continue Pursuit of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak Amid Heavy Interest
Liverpool are still being strongly linked with a move for Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak.
According to Fichajes, the club is looking to make another high-profile signing after already securing Florian Wirtz for a record fee. The Swedish striker has reportedly become a top target for new boss Arne Slot.
Isak, hailed as a “world-class” talent by Premier League icon Alan Shearer, is seen as an ideal fit for Liverpool’s attacking setup. The Reds, fresh off their title win, are said to be preparing a bid of around €120 million for the 24-year-old, who impressed last season with 23 goals and six assists.
His flexibility to operate through the middle or on the wing would give Liverpool a new dimension up front. His creativity, technical skill, and goal-scoring prowess could also offer a considerable upgrade over Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota, both of whom experienced inconsistent patches last campaign.
Possible Replacement for Cody Gakpo
With Cody Gakpo linked to a potential exit, Isak is also being lined up as a like-for-like replacement. Gakpo, who hit 18 goals last term, has played an important role at Anfield, though transfer speculation surrounding him has picked up.
Although Newcastle’s financial position is strong and they are under no immediate obligation to sell, a move could materialize if Isak seeks a transfer and refuses to sign an extension. Should that happen, Newcastle may have little choice but to listen to offers — setting the stage for a tense saga in the coming weeks.
