Liverpool Make Major Moves in Transfer Window as Arne Slot Builds Squad for 2025/26 Push
Liverpool are making serious strides this summer, moving close to completing three key signings as they aim to challenge for both the Premier League and Champions League in 2025/26. Under new boss Arne Slot, the Reds have already secured one £35 million deal, welcomed another big-name star at the AXA Training Centre, and are in advanced talks for a third target, signaling their ambition to return to the top.
First up is Milos Kerkez, the dynamic 21-year-old left-back from Bournemouth. Signed for £35 million, Kerkez passed his medical on June 25, 2025. Last season, he was ever-present for the Cherries, contributing two goals, six assists, and 169 ball recoveries across all 38 games. Known for his energy and skill on the ball — evident in his 476 final-third passes and 22 successful dribbles — Kerkez is a perfect fit for Slot’s aggressive style. His five-year deal until 2030 also solves long-term questions around Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.
Next is German sensation Florian Wirtz, who arrives in a club-record £116 million transfer from Bayer Leverkusen. The 21-year-old was spotted training at Liverpool’s AXA Centre on June 25 alongside Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong. Coming off a stellar campaign with 18 goals, 20 assists, 104 key passes, and 87 successful dribbles, Wirtz is one of Europe’s most exciting playmakers. Comfortable as a No. 10 or on the wing, he looks set to link up beautifully with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold — a prospect that already has fans buzzing outside the training ground.
And it doesn’t stop there. Liverpool are also pursuing a deal for 26-year-old Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting CP. After scoring 43 goals and registering 15 assists last term, Gyökeres is seen as a more cost-effective option than Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, with a price range of £70-80 million. Should Darwin Núñez and Federico Chiesa move on, Gyökeres could be the perfect addition to a strengthened Liverpool attack.
With Jeremie Frimpong also snapped up for £29.5 million and the £35 million sale of Jarell Quansah to Leverkusen balancing the books, Liverpool’s summer spend is already over £200 million. As pre-season begins, fans and pundits alike see these big-money moves as a clear statement of intent from Slot’s Reds — a team determined to fight on all fronts.
