Liverpool have been proactive in the summer transfer window, bolstering key areas of their squad.
The Reds have already completed deals for Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, reinforcing their defence and creativity. Arne Slot, however, is far from finished and looks set to add Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez as his next signing.
With their backline and midfield strengthened, Liverpool plan to shift focus to the attack, targeting a new centre-forward to spearhead their front line.
Despite scoring freely last season, Slot is eager to add even more firepower. Mohamed Salah carried most of the attacking burden last year, especially as Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota struggled for consistency.
That’s why Slot is pushing to sign one of the most highly rated strikers in world football.
Victor Osimhen is the player topping Liverpool’s wish list. The prolific Nigerian forward, who has one year left on his Napoli contract, is available for €75 million due to a release clause applicable to non-Italian clubs.
Osimhen was sensational last season, hitting 37 goals in 41 games across all competitions as he powered Galatasaray to a domestic double of the Super Lig and Turkish Cup.
“There’s an obvious connection between Napoli and Liverpool,” Valter De Maggio of Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli told Area Napoli. “Liverpool want Osimhen, and Napoli will hold firm on the €75 million clause.”
With Napoli acknowledging that Osimhen is unlikely to renew his contract, they seem prepared to let him leave this summer.
The striker himself is reportedly open to a move to the Premier League, and Anfield is seen as an appealing destination.
If Liverpool can secure this deal, they will not only add a world-class goalscorer to their ranks, but also send a powerful message to their rivals that they intend to come back even stronger.
With Osimhen leading the line alongside Salah and Wirtz, Liverpool’s attack could be one of the most feared in Europe.
