Liverpool Close in on Sixth Summer Signing with Gabriel Schluter Deal
According to multiple reports, Liverpool appear to have wrapped up yet another signing in what is shaping up to be a busy summer at Anfield.
The Reds have reportedly agreed a ‘six-figure fee’ with Blackpool for highly-rated 16-year-old midfielder Gabriel Schluter, marking another addition to the club’s youth-focused recruitment strategy.
Should the move be confirmed, Schluter would become the sixth new arrival at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre this summer. The club has already brought in Giorgi Mamardashvili (goalkeeper), Jeremie Frimpong (right-back), Armin Pecsi (goalkeeper), Florian Wirtz (attacking midfielder), and Milos Kerkez (left-back).
Excluding Mamardashvili—whose transfer was reportedly agreed in advance last summer—Schluter would be the fifth official signing of the current window, as Liverpool continue to reshape the squad under the new regime.
The acquisition of Schluter further reflects Liverpool’s long-term planning and commitment to building a strong next generation through strategic youth recruitment.
Liverpool Secure Deal for Blackpool Teen Gabriel Schluter
Liverpool are on the verge of completing the signing of 16-year-old midfielder Gabriel Schluter from Blackpool, according to transfer insider Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider.
The Premier League champions have reportedly scheduled a medical for the teenager next week, following his standout performances in Blackpool’s academy and a brief senior debut in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy against Liverpool U21s—where Schluter scored a penalty in the shootout.
Fulham and Stockport County were also monitoring the promising midfielder, who was named Players’ Player of the Year at Blackpool’s academy awards in 2024. However, Liverpool have won the race for his signature, with the No. 48 set to join their ranks shortly.
Liverpool Eye Hugo Ekitike Amid Isak Uncertainty
While Liverpool continue to be linked with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, uncertainty remains over whether the Magpies or the striker himself will be tempted to move before the transfer window closes on September 1.
If Liverpool opt against pursuing Isak, Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt remains a serious alternative. However, the German side reportedly demand €100m (£85.4m)—a price that has made clubs cautious.
According to Christian Falk, Manchester United are the only club to have opened dialogue with Frankfurt so far, while Chelsea and Liverpool maintain interest. Liverpool’s move could depend on whether Darwin Núñez is sold to Napoli, potentially freeing up both funds and a squad slot.
