🔁 Liverpool & Newcastle Reignite £120m Transfer Battle: Isak, Gordon, Elliott in the Spotlight

Liverpool and Newcastle could be set for another explosive summer of negotiations, with three major names tangled in a potential transfer tug-of-war worth up to £120 million.

Liverpool Want Gordon & Isak

  • Liverpool have renewed their interest in Anthony Gordon, a boyhood Reds fan who came close to rejoining the club last summer in a swap deal involving Joe Gomez.
  • Newcastle pulled out at the final stage last year after selling Yankuba Minteh (£33m to Brighton) and Elliot Anderson (£35m to Nottingham Forest), giving them the funds to keep Gordon.
  • Now, despite Gordon signing a new deal in October, Liverpool are circling again, with talkSPORT’s Alex Crook saying a move “could be revisited.”
  • At the same time, the Reds are reportedly huge admirers of Alexander Isak, though Newcastle would demand a massive fee — likely north of £75m — to even consider letting him go.

🔄 Newcastle Eye Elliott & Gomez Again

  • Newcastle, meanwhile, have shown continued interest in Harvey Elliott, who is reportedly keen on a move away from Anfield this summer.
  • RB Leipzig are also monitoring Elliott, but Liverpool will demand £40m+ to part with the creative midfielder.
  • Newcastle tried to sign Joe Gomez for £45m in 2024 as part of a potential Gordon swap. While that deal collapsed, their interest hasn’t completely gone away.

💰 Why Now?

  • Newcastle need to raise funds due to Premier League financial regulations and haven’t made a major signing yet this summer.
  • Liverpool have already offloaded Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Jarell Quansah, potentially freeing up space and funds for a marquee attacking signing.
  • Any deal for Gordon or Isak would require Liverpool to make a substantial offer, and potentially offload Elliott or Gomez in return.

🧠 What This Means

  • This saga could define both clubs’ transfer windows.
  • Gordon remains emotionally tied to Liverpool, and Isak fits the mold of the elite No. 9 Liverpool crave under Arne Slot.
  • Newcastle, needing sales to comply with PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules), may be tempted if the money is right — especially with other targets slipping away (e.g., Joao Pedro to Chelsea).
