Nunez set to leave Anfield for NapoliLiverpool eye Gyokeres as replacement

Since his 2022 arrival from Benfica, Darwin Núñez has delivered flashes of brilliance for Liverpool but struggled with consistency in front of goal. Despite interest from Al-Nassr in January, it now appears that Napoli are closing in on a deal to sign the Uruguayan striker for around €50 million (£43m/$58m).

With Núñez likely on his way out, manager Arne Slot is actively seeking reinforcements to reshape his attack. According to Correio da Manhã, Liverpool are preparing to rival Arsenal for the signing of Viktor Gyökeres, one of Europe’s top-performing forwards last season.

The club has reportedly contacted intermediaries to clarify Gyökeres’ release clause, which is said to be €80 million (£68m/$93m).

DID YOU KNOW?

Gyökeres has already informed Sporting CP of his intention to leave this summer following a prolific campaign that placed him among the continent’s most lethal goal scorers.

While Arsenal have been leading the race for his signature, Liverpool are now making a serious push to secure the 26-year-old Swede — hoping to outmaneuver their Premier League rivals.

Interestingly, Gyökeres has previously rejected a move to Manchester United, despite the opportunity to reunite with former Sporting manager Rúben Amorim. He is now carefully evaluating his next move as multiple top clubs vie for his services.
