Florian Wirtz Drawing Intense Transfer Interest as Liverpool Pull Ahead
Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz is becoming one of Europeβs most coveted talents, with Liverpool, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich all showing strong interest in the 22-year-old German international.
Wirtz has enjoyed a stellar season, playing a pivotal role in Leverkusenβs Bundesliga title triumph with 16 goals and 15 assists in 44 matches across all competitions.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly already in direct contact with the midfielder, attempting to lure him to the Premier League this summer.
Liverpool in Pole Position as Bayern Struggle Financially
Bayern Munich are eager to bring Wirtz to the Allianz Arena but are facing financial obstacles. According to Anfield Watch, the German giants would need to offload several players β possibly including Kingsley Coman or Sacha Boey β to afford Wirtz’s estimated β¬150 million price tag.
Liverpool, however, are in a much more flexible position financially and wouldnβt need to make any sales to fund the transfer. This gives the Merseyside club a significant advantage in the race.
Bundesliga expert Ronan Murphy told Anfield Watch, βThere are certainly strong reasons for Wirtz to join Bayern, but the financial situation could make it impossible. Liverpool, by contrast, could make the deal happen without any player sales β and thatβs a major plus for them.β
Slot Eyes Wirtz to Revamp Midfield
Under Arne Slot, Liverpool have taken a measured approach in the transfer market. Their only major acquisition last summer was Federico Chiesa, who arrived on a cut-price deal. Despite this, the club has remained competitive, and Slot is now looking to add creative firepower to his midfield.
Wirtz would represent a game-changing addition. His dual threat as a scorer and creator would offer Liverpool a new attacking dimension and reduce the creative burden on Mohamed Salah. For Slot, signing Wirtz could be the catalyst for a new era of success at Anfield.
