Liverpool to break British transfer record again in Β£214m double swoop if Luis Diaz or Nunez could be sold

Liverpool Set to Break Transfer Record Again with Β£214M Double Swoopβ€”Pending Nunez Exit

Liverpool is preparing to smash the British transfer record for a second time this summer, with a Β£214 million double swoop in the worksβ€”provided they offload Darwin Nunez.

The Merseyside club has already made headlines by securing German star Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for a staggering Β£116 million, setting a new national transfer benchmark. But they may not be done yet.

Nunez Sale Key to Next Moves

As part of their summer strategy, Liverpool is aiming to generate funds through player sales, with Darwin Nunez reportedly among those on the chopping block. Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Napoli have shown keen interest in the Uruguayan forward, with Liverpool expected to demand between €65m and €70m (Β£55m–£60m) to open negotiations.

Isak & Osimhen Top Liverpool’s Wish List

In the event of Nunez’s departure, Liverpool has identified two high-profile strikers as potential replacements: Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

While Isak’s price tag is steepβ€”reportedly around Β£150 millionβ€”sources suggest there’s a potential window of opportunity. Journalist Graeme Bailey told Rousing The Kop that Isak remains a viable target, especially as contract renewal talks at Newcastle appear to have stalled.

β€œThere’s a chink of light,” Bailey explained. β€œLiverpool continues to track the situation closely. If Isak refuses Newcastle’s improved offer, Liverpool could strike at Β£120–130 million.”

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio echoed that sentiment, revealing that Liverpool are seriously targeting both Isak and Osimhen, as they prepare to reshape their attacking line under Arne Slot.

β€œIsak has expressed to Newcastle his openness to a move,” said Di Marzio. β€œBut the club has yet to take any real steps to accommodate that. Osimhen, meanwhile, has a Β£64 million (€75m) release clause that expires mid-July, making him an accessible optionβ€”at least financially.”

Timing is Everything

With Isak’s future dependent on stalled talks at St. James’ Park and Osimhen’s release clause time-sensitive, the coming weeks could be decisive.

If Nunez is sold and negotiations with either Newcastle or Napoli take a favorable turn, Liverpool may end the summer having shattered the British transfer record twiceβ€”first with Wirtz, and again with a dynamic double striker signing.
