Barcelona Shift Focus to Luis Díaz After Nico Williams Commits to Bilbao
Liverpool are preparing for incoming offers for Luis Díaz in the coming weeks, following Nico Williams’ decision to remain at Athletic Bilbao.
That’s according to Mick Brown — the former Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout — who told Football Insider that Barcelona are expected to intensify their pursuit of the Colombian winger.
Williams had been Barcelona’s top target for the left wing, but with his future now tied to Bilbao, the Catalan giants are turning their attention to Díaz as their next priority.
Football Insider previously reported that new Liverpool boss Arne Slot will demand a fee in the region of £70 million to part ways with Díaz, after rejecting an earlier approach from Barcelona.
Despite the high valuation, Barça remain interested in signing the 28-year-old, though financial constraints may prove a stumbling block if Liverpool refuse to negotiate on price.
As a contingency, Barcelona are also exploring alternative options, with Marcus Rashford emerging as another potential target, according to Brown.
