BREAKING NEWS LIVE Newcastle make Alexander Isak to Liverpool decision after huge Hugo Ekitike transfer bid

Newcastle Submit Club-Record ÂŁ69.5M Bid for Hugo Ekitike to Partner Isak in Attack

Newcastle United have submitted a club-record ÂŁ69.5 million bid for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, as the Magpies look to bolster their frontline ahead of the new season. The 23-year-old Frenchman has emerged as a top priority for Eddie Howe, who sees him as the ideal partner for star forward Alexander Isak.

Frankfurt have already rejected a £60.1m bid from another club, and while they continue to point to Ekitike’s £86 million release clause, Newcastle remain hopeful of negotiating a deal below that figure.

Ekitike has long been admired by Howe, who previously attempted to sign the forward in 2022. At that time, the striker chose a move to Paris Saint-Germain instead. Now, with Callum Wilson’s departure and limited attacking depth beyond Isak and youngster Will Osula, Newcastle are pushing aggressively to land their man.

The Magpies have held multiple meetings with Frankfurt and Ekitike’s representatives in recent days, including discussions during their pre-season camp in Austria. According to Sun Sport, the official offer was tabled following fresh talks held yesterday.

Ekitike enjoyed a standout season in Germany, scoring 22 goals in 48 appearances—form that has attracted interest from Liverpool, Manchester United, and other top clubs across Europe.

Newcastle have already secured Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest in a ÂŁ55m deal, and Ekitike could soon follow as Howe’s second major signing of the summer. The club is also monitoring Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford, with a potential bid expected once the Ekitike saga is resolved.

With a new era underway on Tyneside, Newcastle are making bold moves to elevate their squad—and Ekitike could be a key piece of that transformation.
