Hansi Flick focuses on physical preparation ahead of Asian tour – two players skip training

Ahead of their Asian Tour, Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad is intensifying preparations for the new season with a strong emphasis on physical conditioning.

On Friday morning, the German coach oversaw a demanding training session focused on fitness. Players were split into groups to complete gym routines and strength-based drills. As a reward for their hard work, the squad was granted the afternoon off to rest and recover.

The respite will be brief, however, with the team set to return to training on Saturday for a rigorous day of double sessions. These preparations are part of Barcelona’s buildup to three upcoming friendlies in Japan and South Korea — key early tests for Flick’s tenure.

Not all players took part in Friday’s session. Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen continued to train individually as he manages ongoing discomfort. His situation remains uncertain, with reports hinting at the possibility of surgery, although the club has yet to issue an official update.

Also training separately is 19-year-old Dani Rodríguez, who is working his way back to full fitness after an injury in his debut match against Valladolid last season, which required surgery. The young midfielder is eager to impress Flick and stake his claim ahead of the new campaign.

Meanwhile, Luis Díaz has reportedly spoken to Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany via video call, fueling speculation over a possible transfer.
