Fabrizio Romano Reveals Alexander Isak’s Stance Amid Liverpool Interest
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided fresh insight into Alexander Isak’s mindset as speculation over a potential move to Liverpool continues to swirl.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed that Liverpool are intensifying their pursuit of Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. However, Isak remains a name of serious interest — and hasn’t ruled out a move to Anfield.
“From what I’m hearing, Alexander Isak is very relaxed,” Romano said. “He knows Newcastle want to keep him and are ready to offer him a new long-term contract. But he’s also aware of Liverpool’s interest and the kind of project they’re building.
He hasn’t closed the door — and Liverpool wouldn’t be making moves unless they believed he was open to the idea.”
Although Newcastle United are reluctant to sell one of their star players to a direct Premier League rival, the fact that Isak is keeping his options open could give Liverpool hope — especially if a formal bid is tabled later in the window.
Isak or Ekitike: A Big Call for Liverpool
The debate among Liverpool supporters is heating up: Isak, proven in the Premier League, or Ekitike, a rising star with massive potential but untested in England?
Isak, with his Premier League pedigree and 17 goals last season, appears to be the more reliable short-term option. Meanwhile, Ekitike — younger and more versatile — is seen as a high-upside investment but one that carries more risk, particularly given the challenges others (like Darwin Núñez) have faced transitioning from less competitive leagues.
With Arne Slot building a dynamic new-look attack, Liverpool’s next striker signing will be a pivotal move — one that could define the success of their post-Klopp rebuild.
