Liverpool Maintain Interest in Isak, But Place Faith in Ekitike’s Versatility
Liverpool continue to monitor Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, though the Magpies are currently adamant the Swedish striker is not for sale. With that in mind, the Merseyside club are turning their focus toward Hugo Ekitike, believing the French forward can thrive under new manager Arne Slot.
Ekitike, who netted 15 goals in the Bundesliga and 22 across all competitions last season, is seen by Slot as a versatile attacking asset. While naturally a central striker, the 22-year-old is also capable of playing out wide or as a supporting forward—qualities that make him a key component in Slot’s tactical plans.
Despite admiration for Isak’s talents, Liverpool are confident Ekitike’s adaptability and goal-scoring instincts will offer the firepower needed as the team continues its transition under Slot.
