Exclusive: Liverpool and West Ham are in a competitive battle to sign Idrissa Gueye.

Liverpool and West Ham Eye Rising Star Idrissa Gueye

According to Football Insider, Liverpool and West Ham are among several clubs tracking Metz’s highly-rated youngster Idrissa Gueye. The 18-year-old Senegalese striker has also drawn interest from Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Southampton, and Ipswich.

Regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in Europe, Gueye is attracting attention from top clubs across multiple leagues. Bundesliga sides Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly interested, while Serie A outfits Parma, Atalanta, and Inter Milan are also in the race.

Metz is said to be seeking a fee of around €20 million (£17 million) for Gueye, who scored six goals in 17 Ligue 2 appearances last season. Primarily a central striker, he has also been deployed in a supporting role.

With increased demand for strikers this summer, clubs are aggressively pursuing young attacking talent. Liverpool, who have experienced inconsistency with Darwin Nunez leading the line, previously explored a £130 million move for Alexander Isak before opting to sign Hugo Ekitike for £79 million.

West Ham is similarly aiming to strengthen their forward line as Michail Antonio prepares to exit. Despite his impact since 2015, the Hammers have struggled to find a reliable scorer. Securing a deal for Gueye could be the breakthrough they need to solve their long-standing striker dilemma.
