Liverpool plot sublime £255m double signing as ‘furious’ Alexander Isak has ‘checked out’ at Newcastle…

Liverpool Prepare Blockbuster £255M Double Swoop as ‘Furious’ Isak Eyes Anfield Exit

Liverpool are reportedly readying a stunning £255 million double move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak and Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, with the Swedish forward said to be increasingly unsettled on Tyneside.

Isak ‘Checked Out’ Amid Contract Tensions at Newcastle

According to multiple sources, including TEAMtalk, Isak began distancing himself from Newcastle months ago. Despite official claims that he missed the club’s pre-season tour of Asia due to a minor thigh injury, insiders report that scans showed no serious issue — raising suspicions that the absence was motivated by transfer ambitions.

Transfer expert Fraser Fletcher reports that Isak is frustrated with Newcastle’s transfer activity, believing the club lacks the vision to match his ambitions. Other trusted journalists like Fabrizio Romano, Craig Hope, Ben Jacobs, and Alex Crook have backed up these claims.

The 25-year-old striker, who scored 23 Premier League goals last season, is understood to be eager to join Liverpool, viewing them as genuine contenders for domestic and European honours under new manager Arne Slot.

Contract Breakdown and a Change in Attitude

Newcastle’s reluctance to offer Isak a substantial new contract reportedly added fuel to the fire. Despite being one of the league’s most lethal strikers, negotiations stalled, and the club’s former sporting director Paul Mitchell did not push forward with improved terms — leaving Isak “furious,” per the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope.

Though he finished the season with 27 goals, insiders say his attitude shifted after the club’s League Cup final win over Liverpool. Notably, he missed a key match against Arsenal late in the season, citing muscle fatigue — a move some saw as a sign of disengagement.

Isak still holds “nothing but respect” for his teammates and fans, but he’s made it clear that his aspirations lie with a club like Liverpool, where he believes he can win the Premier League and Champions League.

Liverpool’s Mega Bid: £130M–£150M for Isak

Liverpool, fresh off title success and keen to solidify their next great attacking line, have already broken the British transfer record by signing Florian Wirtz for £116 million and Hugo Ekitike for £69 million (plus £10M in add-ons).

Now, the club is reportedly ready to break that record again with an initial offer of around £130 million for Isak, though Newcastle are expected to demand up to £150 million.

To help fund the move, Liverpool could offload up to seven players, including Darwin Núñez, Luis Díaz, and Harvey Elliott.

Rodrygo Also in Liverpool’s Sights

In addition to Isak, Rodrygo of Real Madrid is another top Liverpool target. The Brazilian winger is said to be unhappy with his limited role under new manager Xabi Alonso, particularly with Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior expected to dominate the starting lineup.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool are preparing a €120 million (£105 million) offer for Rodrygo — an amount that matches Madrid’s valuation. TEAMtalk confirms that Rodrygo is high on Liverpool’s list of winger targets to replace Díaz.

Madrid are seeking at least €90 million (£79 million) plus bonuses for Rodrygo, whom they still consider among the world’s best. If Liverpool finalize the bid, it could mark their second massive move of the window.

If Rodrygo doesn’t arrive, Liverpool may shift attention to Bradley Barcola, Anthony Gordon, or Malick Fofana. Slot may also consider deploying Ekitike on the left if Isak becomes the central No. 9.

A Statement Window Under Arne Slot

After a quiet summer in 2024, Liverpool’s strategy has changed dramatically. With Slot leading the club to the Premier League title last season, the Reds are now building a “super-team” capable of dominating in both England and Europe.

Their aggressive transfer activity — headlined by potential deals for Isak and Rodrygo — signals intent to maintain domestic supremacy and make a real push in the Champions League.

Isak Turns Down £600K-a-Week Offer Elsewhere

Isak reportedly rejected a staggering £600,000-a-week offer from another club, staying firm on his desire to join Liverpool. While Newcastle would still prefer to keep him, the signs now point to a departure.

In preparation, the Magpies are eyeing Benjamin Šeško as a potential replacement, according to TEAMtalk.

The race for Alexander Isak is heating up — and Liverpool are now in pole position.
