Liverpool deal edges closer as Alexander Isak goes AWOL at Newcastle

Liverpool Prepare £120m Bid for Alexander Isak as Striker Pushes for Move

Following the completion of Luis Diaz’s transfer to Bayern Munich, Liverpool are now expected to intensify their pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. Newcastle are reportedly bracing for an initial offer, and with the Magpies already scouting replacements, there’s growing optimism that a deal could be finalized soon.

Isak, said to be eager to join the reigning Premier League champions, is believed to be taking steps to facilitate the transfer. According to TBR Football, the 25-year-old forward has gone AWOL from Newcastle, skipping training sessions and instead working out from home — a situation manager Eddie Howe is understood to be aware of.

Left out of Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Singapore and South Korea, Isak has made clear his desire to explore other opportunities. Liverpool have reportedly been impressed by the player’s determination to push the move forward. After scoring 23 goals and providing six assists in the Premier League last season, the Swedish international has emerged as a top target for the Anfield side.

Liverpool are prepared to table a club-record bid worth £120 million, confident that the offer could tempt Newcastle into selling. However, the Tyneside club remain firm on their £150 million valuation. While Isak’s desire to leave may influence negotiations, Newcastle still retain a strong bargaining position, with the striker under contract until 2028.
