Liverpool transfer update: Striker move expected to be completed today

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that talks regarding Darwin Nunez’s potential move are in the advanced stages, with Liverpool now simply waiting on the player’s final decision about joining the Saudi Pro League.

Although the transfer hasn’t been officially completed, verbal agreements have already outlined the financial terms between the two clubs.

Liverpool and Al Hilal have reached a broad agreement for Nunez’s transfer, including add-ons. What remains now is for personal terms to be settled and for Nunez to fully commit to the move.

Nunez is said to be carefully weighing his options, but his exit from the Premier League champions appears inevitable.

Liverpool are ready to move forward once Nunez gives his approval. According to Jacobs, the deal could be finalized as soon as today.

If the forward agrees to the transfer, he is expected to say his goodbyes to teammates and supporters on Thursday before heading to Germany for a medical as part of the move.

The club plans to act swiftly, with Nunez’s departure expected to free up substantial funds for new manager Arne Slot to reshape the squad.

Following Nunez’s sale, Liverpool may shift their focus to signing Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. Their initial offer for the Swedish striker was rejected, but funds from Nunez’s transfer could bolster their pursuit.

Al Hilal have been relentless in trying to land Nunez, and coach Simone Inzaghi is reportedly eager to make him a central figure in the team’s attack.

The Saudi club is confident that its generous offer has been enough to win the player over.
