Fabrizio Romano drops major Alexander Isak update that will get Liverpool fans very excited

Fabrizio Romano has dropped a fresh update on the future of Newcastle star Alexander Isak as the saga surrounding the Swede’s potential move to Liverpool continues.

Alexander Isak returned to Newcastleโ€™s training ground earlier this week after missing the clubโ€™s pre-season tour of Asia, but he has yet to rejoin first-team training.

Liverpool recently had a ยฃ110 million bid rejected for the 25-year-oldโ€”well below Newcastleโ€™s reported ยฃ150 million valuationโ€”and have yet to submit an improved offer.

On Saturday, The Telegraphโ€™s Luke Edwards reported that Newcastle had told Isak he would not be sold to Liverpool this summer. However, the situation appears to have shifted. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, claimed the deal remains โ€œabsolutely on, absolutely concrete and absolutely likely.โ€

โ€œAlexander Isak wants to go to Liverpool,โ€ Romano said. โ€œHe doesnโ€™t want to extend his contract. He wants Liverpool and Liverpool want him. Newcastle havenโ€™t closed the doorโ€”itโ€™s still an open story.โ€

Manager Eddie Howe also addressed the strikerโ€™s future after Newcastleโ€™s 2-0 defeat to Atlรฉtico Madrid in their final pre-season friendly. While insisting Isak still has a place at the club, Howe suggested the situation must be resolved before he can reintegrate the Swede into the squad.

โ€œHe is here, so of course he has a future at Newcastle,โ€ Howe said. โ€œWeโ€™d love to have him back with the team, but the situation has to be right for that to happen. He doesnโ€™t have a fitness issue. Iโ€™m aware of a feeling within the squad that thereโ€™s something there not to the benefit of the group.โ€

With tensions in the dressing room and Liverpool maintaining their pursuit, Isakโ€™s future at St Jamesโ€™ Park remains uncertain as the new season approaches.
