Itβs no secret that Andre Onana has struggled to transfer his impressive Inter performances to Manchester United following his move in 2023.
After helping Inter reach the Champions League final, AndrΓ© Onana made a high-profile move to Manchester United β a signing pushed heavily by then-manager Erik ten Hag after his successful first season at Old Trafford.
Ten Hagβs debut campaign saw United finish third in the Premier League and lift the EFL Cup, seemingly setting the stage for a title challenge against Manchester City. While David De Gea played a key role in that seasonβs success, the club allowed him to leave in 2023.
Following a stint at Fiorentina, where he impressed, De Gea returned to Old Trafford at the weekend for a pre-season friendly between the two sides, which ended 1-1 before United won on penalties.
Meanwhile, Onanaβs two years at United have been marked by costly mistakes, leading to calls for the Cameroonian goalkeeperβs time at the club to come to an end.

Manchester United are reportedly in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, with Gianluigi Donnarumma β recently left out of PSGβs Super Cup squad β and Aston Villaβs Emiliano Martinez among the names linked. Chelsea and Manchester City are also said to be interested in the Italy captain.
However, some voices suggest United should instead revisit a former option. Speaking to BettingLounge.co.uk, ex-Premier League striker Matt Jansen reflected the frustration many fans feel toward AndrΓ© Onana.
βThey wonβt succeed until they change the goalkeeper, in my opinion,β Jansen said. βThey were trying to go for Emiliano Martinez at Aston Villa β heβd be an improvement. Honestly, you could name half a dozen keepers who would be better than Onana. He hasnβt done well. Maybe even David de Gea could come back and still do a job. But itβs clear they need to make a change; it hasnβt worked with Onana, and his time is up. They never shouldβve let De Gea go. That was a strange decision, and theyβve paid the price.β
Onana missed Unitedβs pre-season tour of the USA due to a hamstring injury but is expected to be fit for their Premier League opener against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday, August 17.
