Barcelona: Gavi Asks For Man Utd-Linked Teammate To Be Sold After Big Argument

Gavi Urges Barcelona to Sell Teammate After Dressing Room Bust-Up

Barcelona midfielder Gavi has reportedly demanded the club sell a Catalan teammate following a heated dressing room clash that nearly turned physical.

The incident, involving a player Gavi once shared the La Masia academy with, has created significant tension ahead of Hansi Flick’s first La Liga match of the 2025/26 season against Mallorca on 16 August.

Gavi, who made 42 appearances under Flick last season, is said to believe the relationship is beyond repair and has asked Barcelona’s hierarchy to place the teammate on the transfer list. The identity of the player has not been officially confirmed, but Spanish media suggest the dispute has deeply unsettled parts of the squad.

Flick is now tasked with managing the fallout while keeping spirits high as Barça look to defend their La Liga crown.

Gavi-Fermin Rift Deepens Amid Social Media Snub and Off-Pitch Tensions

Barcelona’s preparations for the new La Liga season have been overshadowed by an escalating feud between midfielders Gavi and Fermin López — former La Masia teammates whose relationship has reportedly broken down beyond repair.

Gavi, who turned 21 earlier this month, received public birthday messages from most of his teammates — but notably not from Fermin, raising speculation of bad blood. According to reports, friction between the pair dates back to their academy days and has been worsened by tensions between their respective partners.

The situation came to a head on Wednesday night when Fermin, 22, posted a cryptic black-and-white Instagram photo of himself celebrating, accompanied by a pointed caption, shortly after learning that Gavi had asked Barcelona director Alejandro Echevarria to sell him this summer.

GOAL reports the players’ relationship is “in ruins,” while SPORT insists “there’s no way back.” Manager Hansi Flick, however, is said to be eager to mend fences for the sake of squad harmony ahead of Barça’s league opener against Mallorca on August 16.

Manchester United Submit €80m Offer for Barcelona’s Fermin López

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United have emerged as serious admirers of Barcelona midfielder Fermin López.

The report claims that United boss Ruben Amorim and his team have tabled an opening bid of €80 million (£69m) for the 22-year-old Spaniard, who has recently been at the centre of headlines due to his reported feud with teammate Gavi.
