A new club has sensationally entered the frame to sign Liverpool target Alexander Isak as Richard Keys has revealed what he has ‘heard’ about the saga.
Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle United remains uncertain, with the striker reportedly refusing to train in an effort to push through a move to Liverpool this summer.
Speculation around his potential transfer continued as Liverpool opened their Premier League campaign with an entertaining 4-2 win over Bournemouth on Friday night.
New signing Hugo Ekitike, brought in from Eintracht Frankfurt for £79 million, wasted no time making an impact. The French forward scored his first league goal for the club and provided an assist in a standout performance that earned him Man of the Match honours.
His display drew praise from fans and pundits alike — and even prompted Alan Shearer to poke fun at Isak with a cheeky social media dig.
Meanwhile, on beIN SPORTS, Richard Keys and Andy Gray weighed in on Liverpool’s pursuit of Isak, further fueling debate over whether the Swede will complete his move before the transfer window closes.
Liverpool have seen a £110 million bid for Alexander Isak turned down by Newcastle United, according to Richard Keys, who also claims the Premier League champions are preparing an improved offer.
The broadcaster suggested that a second bid is already on the table, believed to be worth £140 million in total — £80 million to be paid upfront, with a further £60 million due next season.
Keys also hinted that Liverpool could face competition for the 25-year-old striker, revealing that Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the situation.
“I’ve heard today that Liverpool had a £110m offer rejected,” Keys said. “A second proposal has been made — £80m now and £60m next season. Take your pick. But I’ve also been told Real Madrid might be in the frame.”
Speaking about Alexander Isak’s situation, Richard Keys suggested the striker’s stance indicates confidence that a transfer will materialise.
“I can’t believe he would have taken such a drastic step without being fairly sure he’ll be gone before the window closes,” Keys remarked.
While Real Madrid already possess a glittering attack led by Kylian Mbappé, Xabi Alonso’s summer signings have primarily strengthened defence and midfield. In forward areas, Los Blancos can already rely on Endrick and Gonzalo García, who burst onto the scene during the Club World Cup.
On paper, Real appear well stocked in attack for the 2025/26 campaign, but as one of the world’s biggest clubs, any availability of top-level talent inevitably draws their attention.
As for Newcastle, they began their Premier League season without Isak, who was left out of the travelling squad to face Aston Villa on Saturday.
Eddie Howe, naturally quizzed about his star striker ahead of kick-off, offered little new on the situation.
“It’s no different from how it has been for several weeks. We are without Alexander and adapting to that while trying to remain competitive. Today will be a big test for us,” Howe explained.
Pressed on whether he felt let down by Isak, the Magpies boss kept his focus firmly on the match: “Now is not the time to go into that. All my emotions are towards this game. Villa Park is a tough place to come and we have to be right mentally, myself included.”
