Alexander Isak will be a Liverpool player by 1 September

Matt Le Tissier Tips Alexander Isak to Join Liverpool – But Newcastle Replacement Key

Former England and Southampton striker Matt Le Tissier believes Alexander Isak will seal a move to Liverpool this summer—provided Newcastle United secure a replacement first.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Le Tissier explained that in situations like this, players usually get their desired move. With Darwin Núñez’s departure to Al-Hilal creating a vacancy in Liverpool’s forward line, the Reds have identified Isak as their priority target.

The 25-year-old Swede has been linked with Anfield for much of the summer, but Newcastle’s £150 million valuation remains the major stumbling block. Such a fee would make Isak the Premier League’s most expensive signing in history.

Liverpool’s hierarchy, led by new head coach Arne Slot, have already sanctioned over £285m worth of transfers this summer, raising questions about whether they will push the financial boundaries once more before the window closes.

Le Tissier, however, is confident that the deal will get done:

“I think it will happen. It’s rare in modern football that players don’t eventually get their way, especially when a club like Liverpool is involved. The key is Newcastle finding someone they’re comfortable replacing him with.”

With less than two weeks remaining before the transfer deadline, time is running out. If Liverpool are to land Isak, they will likely have to move quickly—and decisively.

The striker has impressed since his arrival at St James’ Park, scoring consistently and establishing himself as one of the league’s most dangerous forwards. His potential partnership with Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz at Anfield has already sparked excitement among Reds fans.

For Newcastle, losing their talisman would be a huge blow, but the record-breaking fee could provide the financial flexibility needed to strengthen across multiple areas of the squad.

As it stands, Liverpool’s pursuit of Isak looks set to go down to the wire.
