Expert makes seismic Alexander Isak transfer claim and when Liverpool could sign him

Liverpool Still Pushing for Alexander Isak as Transfer Saga Drags On

Liverpool’s pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak shows no sign of fading, with fresh claims suggesting a deal could be struck in the coming weeks.

The Swedish forward was notably absent from Newcastle’s squad for their Premier League opener at Villa Park, where Eddie Howe’s side failed to score in a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa. Meanwhile, Liverpool began their campaign with a 4-2 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield.

Since lodging their initial bid, the Reds have taken a more cautious approach — monitoring the situation closely without rushing into an improved offer. Sources suggest Liverpool are waiting to see whether Newcastle are truly willing to negotiate before committing to a formal push.

Manager Eddie Howe has expressed frustration at the uncertainty, urging for a quick resolution so that “all parties can move on.”

Financial Expert Tips Isak for Liverpool Move

Football finance expert Stefan Borson has claimed Liverpool are well-placed to secure Isak, with a deal potentially materializing after the two clubs face each other next week.

Speaking to Football Insider, Borson said:

“If you were betting on it, you’d say Liverpool put forward a deal of around £125m plus add-ons — some easy, some difficult — and it gets done after the Newcastle v Liverpool game. Then he joins Liverpool.

“It depends how hard Newcastle want to play this. But Liverpool are in a strong position because the player has made it difficult for Newcastle.

“At the start of the summer, you’d have said Liverpool would need to pay close to £150m. If it happens now, I think they’ve chipped £10–15m off that fee.”

What Happens Next?

Isak, 25, has been central to Newcastle’s attack since his arrival but uncertainty over his future has left the club in a delicate position. Should Newcastle secure reinforcements — with Yoane Wissa and Gonçalo Ramos both linked — Isak’s departure could become more likely before the September 1 deadline.

For Liverpool, Isak represents the marquee signing Arne Slot craves following the departures of Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez. Whether Newcastle will relent, however, remains the key question as the transfer saga edges towards its climax.
