An Arsenal player has decided to leave the club in a transfer set to be agreed just hours after the signing of Eberechi Eze.
After months of speculation, Arsenal have finally secured the signing of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.
The England international was widely expected to join Tottenham Hotspur after reportedly agreeing terms with the North London rivals. However, a late move from Arsenal swayed his decision, and he is now set to sign for the Gunners following Palace’s Europa Conference League clash with Fredrikstad on Thursday.
Arsenal are believed to be paying a fee of around £68 million for the 27-year-old, who originally joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers in 2020 for £17 million.
Yet, despite the excitement surrounding Eze’s arrival, the deal has stirred mixed reactions within the squad. Reports suggest at least one Arsenal player is preparing to leave before the transfer window closes, hinting at further changes to Mikel Arteta’s setup.
Arsenal’s summer exodus shows no signs of slowing down, with several key departures already confirmed. Kieran Tierney, Jorginho, and Takehiro Tomiyasu all left the club at the end of their contracts, while Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli continue to be linked with moves away.
Now, it looks as though goalkeeper Karl Hein will be the next to depart.
The Estonian international has emerged as a top target for Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, who are searching for a new No. 1 after Michael Zetterer’s move to Eintracht Frankfurt. German outlet Kicker reports that Bremen also considered free agent Alexander Schwolow, formerly of Union Berlin, but have now shifted their focus firmly onto Hein.
The 23-year-old, capped 39 times by Estonia, spent last season on loan at Real Valladolid in Spain, though the club endured a difficult campaign and finished bottom of La Liga.
Hein featured prominently for Valladolid in La Liga last season, making 31 appearances. Despite his efforts, he managed just five clean sheets while conceding 68 goals during a difficult campaign for the Spanish side.
If his move to Werder Bremen is completed, the 23-year-old may not be guaranteed a starting spot. Rising talent Mio Backhaus, 21, is widely expected to take over as first-choice goalkeeper after deputising for Michael Zetterer last season.
Zetterer himself seemed to endorse the youngster’s promotion when addressing supporters before his switch to Eintracht Frankfurt. He told fans: “Do me a favour: support the young man who will now be between the posts, just as you supported me.
