Explosive behind-the-scenes at Barcelona… Flick shocks the team’s star and tells him the bitter truth

German coach Hansi Flick has taken a firm approach with the Barcelona squad, making it clear to players who are not part of his core plans for the season where they stand. One of the most notable names affected is young midfielder Marc Casado, who was directly informed that his opportunities for game time this campaign will be minimal.

Casado had been a reliable performer last season, but his role diminished toward the end of the campaign, particularly with Frenkie de Jong’s return to fitness. Flick reportedly told the 22-year-old that not only is he outside the starting XI, but he is also behind Pablo Páez “Gavi” in the rotation — and could slip further once Marc Bernal recovers fully from a knee injury.

Despite Casado’s reputation at Camp Nou for professionalism and consistency, several European clubs have approached him in recent weeks, looking to take advantage of his reduced importance under Flick. Still, neither president Joan Laporta nor sporting director Deco has shown a willingness to sell, citing his commitment to the club. That said, Barcelona’s delicate financial situation could open the door if an offer above €50 million were made.

For now, Casado has no intention of leaving. He has communicated to the club that he wants to honor his contract and continue fighting for a place. However, if his role remains unchanged by midseason, the January transfer window could serve as a turning point. As Flick reportedly told him: “If you are not happy, we can look at the options in January.”
