Liverpool News: Sky Sports share ‘desperate’ Isak to Liverpool update as deal conditions emerge

Sky Sports has issued a fresh update on Alexander Isak’s potential move to Liverpool, describing Newcastle’s situation as increasingly “desperate.”

Isak is determined to force through a transfer to Anfield, refusing to play for Newcastle and releasing a statement accusing the club of breaking promises about his future. Liverpool remain keen on making the Swedish striker their marquee signing, though their opening £110 million bid was swiftly rejected and no further offer has yet been tabled.

Other names—such as Real Madrid’s Rodrygo—have been linked with Liverpool, but sources insist Arne Slot’s priority target is still Isak.

For Newcastle, the stumbling block has always been replacing their star forward. They slapped a £150 million price tag on him and insist they do not want to sell, but their repeated failure to secure a new striker has left them scrambling. Efforts to land Benjamin Sesko, Hugo Ekitike, Joao Pedro, and Liam Delap have all fallen short.

Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie noted:
“Underlying all of this, and this has been the case for several weeks now, is that Newcastle are essentially desperate regarding replacements. They tried for Sesko, they went for Ekitike, and even saw him score against them for Liverpool at St James’ Park. They’ve missed out on Joao Pedro and Liam Delap too. If they manage to bring in one—ideally two—strikers, then there’s a real chance Isak leaves before the window closes.”

With the transfer deadline fast approaching, the saga is reaching a decisive moment. Liverpool currently have just four senior attackers in their squad, and without reinforcements, it is hard to see how Slot’s team can remain competitive across all fronts.

The next move lies with Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes. If Liverpool do not act quickly, they risk missing out on their top target in what has become one of the summer’s longest-running transfer stories.
