Spanish outlets have delivered a scathing update on Marcus Rashford’s loan spell at Barcelona. The Manchester United forward, who made the switch just two months ago in search of a reset, is already under scrutiny, with the Catalan club said to be questioning the deal. His exit from Old Trafford followed repeated clashes with manager Ruben Amorim, who made it clear he had no room for players lacking intensity.
Rashford, 27, had spent his entire career at United prior to this summer. A lifelong supporter, he rose through the academy to become one of the club’s standout homegrown players, racking up 426 appearances, 138 goals, and 78 assists. Yet his later years became marred by accusations of poor attitude and inconsistency, problems that ultimately pushed him out under Amorim’s regime.
The loan move to Spain initially hinted at redemption. Rashford even earned an England recall from Thomas Tuchel after showing flashes of his old self, stretching defences and taking risks in the final third. On the surface, his time at Barcelona seemed promising despite a lack of goals or assists.
Behind the scenes, however, reports suggest growing discontent. After missing out on preferred targets Luis Díaz and Nico Williams, Barcelona had turned to Rashford as an alternative but expected more immediate impact. According to El Nacional, the forward has been labelled “shy, imprecise and lost,” and his performances “go completely unnoticed.”
The club are now said to be considering cutting the loan short unless his form improves quickly, raising the possibility of an early return to Old Trafford.
