Insider Responds to Real Madrid’s Pursuit of Another Liverpool Player

Liverpool’s Changing Future: Who’s Next After Trent?

When Trent Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool in June, it marked the start of a new era at Anfield. But his departure may not be the last. Speculation is already growing that other key names could follow, with Ibrahima Konaté tipped as one of the next likely exits in 2026 — and he might not be alone.

The summer was one of the most dramatic reshuffles in recent years. Liverpool brought in Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, and Jeremie Frimpong, while saying goodbye to Trent, Darwin Núñez, and Luis Díaz. Amid the upheaval, the club did secure two major wins: both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk signed new contracts, reaffirming their commitment to the Reds.

Still, questions around Salah’s long-term future persist. Rumours of Real Madrid circling were addressed by journalist Pete O’Rourke, who believes the timing isn’t right:

“Real Madrid get linked with every top player. I’d be surprised if they moved for Salah now — that ship may have sailed. Salah’s CV speaks for itself. If he sees out the next two years at Anfield and chooses to leave, he’ll have plenty of options and will likely be the one deciding his future, not the clubs.”

Much will depend on Salah’s performances this season. A move to Saudi Arabia in 2026 looks more realistic than Madrid, but with Los Blancos always alert to opportunities, nothing can ever be ruled out.

For now, though, Salah remains the symbol of Liverpool’s ambitions — even as the squad reshaping under Arne Slot continues to raise fresh questions about who will stay and who will go in the seasons ahead.
