Virgil van Dijk described Alexander Isak as “very good, very eager” when asked about his first impressions of the striker in training.
The Liverpool captain explained that Isak’s quality was clear from the start, even though he himself was away on international duty during the early sessions. He added that they had already spoken during the international break and that the Swede was quickly adapting both on and off the pitch.
According to van Dijk, the focus for Isak now is on regaining full fitness, getting to know his teammates’ style of play, and understanding Liverpool’s system – from pressing to set pieces. “It’s been a good week for him,” van Dijk said. “Let’s see tomorrow.”
Isak could make his Liverpool debut on Wednesday, when the Reds face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
