Atlético Madrid face a testing trip to Anfield for their Champions League opener against Liverpool, but they will be without several key players.
Striker Julián Álvarez has been left out of the squad due to knee discomfort, while midfielder Johnny Cardoso also misses out after sustaining an injury in training. Thiago Almada and Álex Baena are likewise unavailable for selection.
There is, however, a boost for Diego Simeone’s side as Slovakian defender David Hancko returns to the list after recovering from the ankle sprain he picked up in the recent victory over Villarreal.
In attack, Alexander Sørloth and Antoine Griezmann are expected to lead the line, with support from wide options Nico González and Giuliano Simeone.
According to reports, Álvarez and as many as four other players could be absent for the clash with the reigning Premier League champions, leaving Atlético with a challenging task in their opening European fixture.
