A Liverpool target has informed his agent that he desires a transfer to Real Madrid, even though he had previously agreed to join the Reds.

Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi continues to dominate transfer headlines, with fresh reports suggesting his future may lie away from the Premier League.

The 25-year-old was close to leaving Selhurst Park in the summer, even completing a medical with Liverpool, but the deal collapsed when Palace pulled out, unable to secure a replacement in time.

Liverpool, who remain in the market for defensive reinforcements, are expected to revisit their interest when the January window opens. However, according to The Mirror, Guehi has now informed his representatives that his preferred destination is Real Madrid.

The England international is believed to be eyeing a free transfer to the Spanish giants, who are actively looking to bolster their defensive depth. For Guehi, the allure of playing at the Santiago Bernabéu and representing one of world football’s most prestigious clubs appears to be decisive.

This development is a blow for Liverpool, who face pressing concerns at the back. Virgil van Dijk is approaching the twilight of his career, Ibrahima Konaté’s contract runs out in 2026, and Joe Gomez has struggled with consistency and injuries. Guehi would have been seen as a long-term solution, but his stance may force Liverpool to turn to alternative targets.

The coming months will reveal whether Liverpool attempt to persuade Guehi to reconsider—or if Real Madrid moves swiftly to secure his signature.
