Liverpool fans have reached their final decision over one player after their Carabao Cup third round victory over Southampton.
Liverpool Fans Deliver Final Verdict on Federico Chiesa After Southampton Clash

Liverpool advanced to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 2-1 win over Southampton β but the nightβs biggest talking point was the performance of Federico Chiesa.
Arne Slot made several changes to his side, resting the likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Ryan Gravenberch. That opened the door for Chiesa, who has struggled for minutes since arriving from Juventus last summer and was even left out of Liverpoolβs Champions League squad.
The Italian seized his opportunity. His pressing forced Saints goalkeeper Alex McCarthy into a mistake that set up Alexander Isakβs first Liverpool goal, before he later supplied the pass for Hugo Ekitikeβs decisive strike. Beyond the assists, Chiesa troubled Southampton with his direct runs, energy, and relentless pressing.
Fans were quick to share their verdict:
- βFederico Chiesa has been one of the standout performers this half β night and day compared to Plymouth last year.β
- βPhenomenal half of football. You can see heβs desperate to prove himself to Slot and secure his Italy place for the World Cup.β
- βChiesaβs workrate is ridiculous. Best half of football for LFC.β
- βHeβs making a strong case for rotation with Salah. Pressing, creativity, everything has been excellent.β
- βNot sure how Chiesa doesnβt get more minutes. Heβs got so much quality.β
With two assists and a tireless display, Chiesa may have given Slot plenty to think about β and convinced Liverpool supporters he deserves a bigger role in the weeks ahead.
