Mohamed Salah Reacts After Liverpool’s Merseyside Derby Win
Mohamed Salah took to social media after playing a decisive role in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Everton at Anfield in Saturday’s Merseyside derby.
The Egyptian forward was central to the action, providing the assist for Ryan Gravenberch’s opener before Hugo Ekitike doubled the lead. The win gave Liverpool a six-point cushion at the Premier League summit—later reduced to five after Arsenal’s draw with Manchester City.
Salah, who has now produced six goal contributions in as many games this season, later gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at life at the AXA Training Centre. His Instagram story featured clips of teammates, including Ibrahima Konaté, before showing himself working alone in the gym.
Despite his excellent form, head coach Arne Slot strongly suggested that Salah will sit out Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Southampton. Speaking after the derby, the Dutchman explained that Liverpool plan to rotate heavily after a demanding run of fixtures.
“It’s the reality for teams fighting on multiple fronts—you need squad depth,” Slot said. “Players who have pushed hard recently—Virgil van Dijk, Konaté, Salah, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai—they’ve managed the intensity well. But you won’t be seeing them on Tuesday night.”
With several senior players expected to rest, Liverpool’s young talents and fringe squad members are likely to get a chance to impress as the Reds continue their pursuit of silverware on all fronts.
