Liverpool fans are calling on FSG to offload a “useless” player after another disappointing defeat, this time to Galatasaray.
The Reds suffered back-to-back losses, first 2-1 against Crystal Palace and then 1-0 to the Turkish side. Arne Slot shuffled his squad, restoring Hugo Ekitike to the lineup while benching Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak. However, his tactical approach came under scrutiny after Dominik Szoboszlai conceded an early penalty, which Victor Osimhen converted to secure the win.
Much of the frustration from supporters was directed at Ibrahima Konate, whose underwhelming display drew sharp criticism. Many fans demanded that Liverpool sell the French defender in January, with some even joking about “gift-wrapping” him for Real Madrid. Others questioned why Joe Gomez isn’t being given more chances, while highlighting Konate’s poor aerial ability and tendency to give away needless fouls.
Pundit Alan Shearer also criticized Liverpool’s defensive organization, pointing to broader issues with the reigning Premier League champions.
Konate wasn’t the only player who struggled. Ryan Gravenberch put in a poor performance, losing possession, picking up a yellow card, and offering little defensively. Jeremie Frimpong’s deliveries were also ineffective, leaving Alisson once again forced to rescue the team with crucial saves.
With injuries already thinning Liverpool’s defensive options—Giovanni Leoni being sidelined—Slot will be hoping Konate and others can quickly bounce back from this dip in form.
