Former Manchester City and Spain striker Alvaro Negredo has tipped Cole Palmer to leave Chelsea in a huge transfer.
Ever since Pep Guardiola sanctioned Cole Palmer’s move to Chelsea in September 2023 for a reported fee of up to £42.5 million, the English winger has flourished into one of the Premier League’s standout performers.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Palmer has made 101 appearances, scoring 45 goals and providing 29 assists. One of his most memorable performances came in the Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain, where he registered two goals and an assist.
However, the 23-year-old has struggled for consistency this season due to a recurring groin injury, limiting him to just four appearances across all competitions so far.
Despite his current fitness issues, former Manchester City and Spain striker Álvaro Negredo believes Palmer’s spell at Chelsea could soon come to an end, tipping a major European club to move for him in the near future.
Negredo suggested that Real Madrid would be a fitting next destination for the England international, given his technical ability and all-round talent.
“Cole Palmer is a fantastic player,” Negredo told CoinPoker. “Chelsea are a great team, but honestly, I can see him at Real Madrid. He has everything — dribbling, finishing, strength, and physicality. He’s the kind of player every top club in the world would want.
“Whether it’s at the end of this season or in a couple of years, I’m sure Madrid or another elite side will try to sign him.”
Palmer’s remarkable rise since leaving Manchester City has undoubtedly drawn attention from several of Europe’s biggest clubs, and speculation about his long-term future at Chelsea is only set to grow.
At present, Palmer still has close to eight years remaining on his Chelsea contract, which will keep him at the club beyond his 31st birthday. He signed a two-year extension to his already lengthy deal during the summer of 2024.
As a result, any potential move for the English star would come at a significant cost. Real Madrid—or any other club hoping to lure him away from Stamford Bridge—would likely need to pay well over £100 million to secure his signature in the future.
