Antoine Semenyo Linked with Liverpool Move as Richard Hughes Eyes Reunion

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes could be preparing a move for Antoine Semenyo, with reports suggesting the former Bournemouth chief is considering signing the Ghanaian forward for a second time.

Semenyo has made a brilliant start to the 2025–26 Premier League season, netting six goals so far — placing him just behind Erling Haaland in the race for the Golden Boot.

Bournemouth’s Surprise Surge

Despite a challenging summer in which Bournemouth lost three key defendersDean Huijsen to Real Madrid, Iliya Zabarnyi to Paris Saint-Germain, and Milos Kerkez to Liverpool — the Cherries have started the campaign impressively, sitting fourth in the Premier League table.

Much of their early success can be credited to Semenyo’s electric form, which has caught the attention of several major clubs across Europe.

Liverpool’s Injury Blow

In other news, Liverpool boss Arne Slot confirmed that young defender Giovanni Leoni faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering an ACL injury, ruling him out for around a year. Slot admitted it was “very hard to take the positives” following the setback to one of the club’s most promising prospects.

What’s Next?

With Liverpool monitoring Semenyo’s progress and the Reds already active in the market following defensive injuries, a potential January move could be on the cards.

Meanwhile, the club continues to be linked with Marc Guehi amid concerns over Virgil van Dijk’s long-term future, and recent reports claim Liverpool have also held talks over Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck, 25, as they look to strengthen their back line.
