A club have reportedly made a world record £350 million (€400 million) bid for Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal.
Lamine Yamal: Barcelona’s Teenage Superstar Rejects Record Al-Hilal Bid Amid Injury Setback
At just 18 years old, Lamine Yamal is already widely regarded as the best young footballer in the world. The Barcelona prodigy, who made his senior debut at only 15 in 2023, has since become a cornerstone for both club and country.
Despite being at the dawn of what promises to be a legendary career, Yamal has already achieved feats most players can only dream of. He played a starring role in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph and was instrumental in Barcelona’s treble-winning 2024/25 season, during which the Catalan giants lifted La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España, while also reaching the Champions League semi-finals before falling to Inter Milan.
Record Contract and Salary
In May 2025, Yamal committed his long-term future to Barcelona, signing a new six-year contract until 2031 that made him the highest-paid teenager in football history.
According to The Athletic, the winger earns just under €40 million (£33.5 million) per year before tax, including performance-related bonuses. That equates to an astonishing £644,000 per week, or roughly £3,385 an hour — £63 per minute.
With figures like these, most would assume Barcelona have done enough to deter interest from elsewhere. Yet, according to Fichajes, even such sums haven’t stopped other clubs from trying.
Al-Hilal’s World-Record Offer
Reports from Spain claim that Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal have submitted a world-record £350 million bid for Yamal. The proposal was swiftly rejected by Barcelona, who remain determined to keep their generational talent at the Camp Nou.
Had the deal gone through, Yamal would have joined a star-studded Al-Hilal lineup featuring Darwin Núñez, Kalidou Koulibaly, and João Cancelo — the latter a familiar face from his previous spell with Barcelona.
Yamal’s Loyalty to Barcelona
Despite mounting interest and astronomical offers, Yamal has been unequivocal about his commitment to Barcelona. Speaking to Mundo Deportivo in February 2025, he dismissed suggestions of a move, including past links to Paris Saint-Germain:
“I think it’s impossible that I would go to another club,” Yamal said.
“I don’t think anyone doubts how much I love this club.”
In an earlier 2024 appearance on Spanish TV show El Hormiguero, Yamal also expressed his long-term devotion to the club, declaring:
“I hope I never leave. My dream is to become a legend at Barça.”
Current Injury Update
At present, the teenage star is recovering from injury and was forced to withdraw from Spain’s October internationals. He also missed Barcelona’s 4–1 defeat to Sevilla on October 5, leaving fans eager for his swift return.
While his immediate focus is on regaining fitness, one thing remains clear: Lamine Yamal’s heart — and future — lie firmly with Barcelona, despite record-breaking interest from abroad.
