Three Champions League clubs have reportedly emerged as favourites to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi in the January transfer window.
Marc Guehi Set to Leave Crystal Palace as European Giants Circle
Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi looks increasingly likely to leave Selhurst Park, with reports suggesting the England international has decided against signing a new contract.
The 25-year-old defender was previously close to a move to Liverpool during the summer transfer window, with a deal reportedly agreed worth £35 million plus a 10 per cent sell-on clause. However, the transfer collapsed on deadline day despite Guehi having already begun his medical with the Merseyside club.
Despite the disappointment, Guehi has maintained a professional attitude, continuing to lead by example for Palace while speculation around his future grows.
Glasner Confirms Guehi Won’t Sign a New Deal
On Friday, Palace head coach Oliver Glasner confirmed that Guehi has made his decision to seek a new challenge away from south London. His current contract runs until June 2026, but with no extension forthcoming, Palace are expected to cash in during the January window to avoid losing him for free in 2026.
“Marc has already told us he won’t sign a new contract, so he will leave next year,” Glasner told reporters.
“The club wanted him to stay and offered him a new deal, but he said, ‘No, I want to do something different.’ That’s normal — now we have to decide how best to handle this situation.”
Transfer Outlook: Who Could Sign Guehi?
While Liverpool were long considered front-runners for Guehi’s signature, a report from The i Paper claims they are no longer favourites. Palace are expected to sell the defender in January, with several European heavyweights now entering the race.
The report states that Real Madrid and Barcelona have both shown serious interest, and Bayern Munich are also monitoring developments closely.
Under current rules, Premier League players with six months remaining on their contracts are free to negotiate pre-contract agreements with non-English clubs from January 1, meaning Guehi could secure a move abroad well before the summer.
Professional Amid Uncertainty
Guehi’s composure throughout the saga has earned him widespread respect. Unlike some players unsettled by failed transfers, the Palace skipper has remained disciplined and focused — continuing to anchor the Eagles’ defence with consistency and leadership.
Crystal Palace return to Premier League action on Saturday, hosting Bournemouth at Selhurst Park, where Guehi is expected to feature amid mounting speculation over his next move.
