Vinicius Junior and Lamine Yamal were involved in a heated altercation after Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 in El Clasico.
El Clásico Drama: Real Madrid Beat Barcelona 2–1 as Post-Match Chaos Erupts Between Vinicius and Yamal
First-half goals from Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham were enough for Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid to secure a 2–1 victory over Barcelona and extend their lead at the top of La Liga to five points.
Barcelona’s Fermín López briefly leveled the score in the 38th minute with a well-timed finish from a Marcus Rashford assist, but Bellingham’s decisive strike just five minutes later restored Madrid’s lead — one they would not relinquish.
As expected in El Clásico, tensions boiled over in the final moments. In the ninth minute of second-half stoppage time, Pedri received a second yellow card for a foul on Aurélien Tchouaméni, sparking a heated confrontation involving both benches. Two Real Madrid players — including substitute goalkeeper Andriy Lunin — were booked in the chaos.
But the drama didn’t end there. After the final whistle, emotions spilled over again when Vinícius Júnior and Lamine Yamal clashed on the way to the tunnel. Vinícius, who had earlier shown visible frustration after being substituted in the 72nd minute, was seen gesturing angrily at the 18-year-old before being restrained by security staff.
Fan footage later revealed that the confrontation originated between Dani Carvajal and Yamal, who exchanged words immediately after full-time. Eduardo Camavinga intervened to pull Yamal away before more players joined the altercation — including Vinícius, whose reaction reignited the dispute.
Asked about the incident in his post-match press conference, Xabi Alonso downplayed the situation:
“The last-minute fight? I think it reflected the intensity and importance of the game. It’s healthy competition.”
Despite the fiery ending, Madrid’s victory keeps them firmly in control of the La Liga title race — while Barcelona leaves the Bernabéu with growing frustration both on and off the pitch.
